From Rock Bottom to Wonder Woman: Another Glimpse at My Healing Journey
Younger me would be so proud!
From Rock Bottom to Wonder Woman: Another Look at My Healing Journey
Diana Prince, the alter ego of Wonder Woman, is the ultimate symbol of strength, bravery, and selflessness to four year old me. As a child, I idolized her ability to transform into a superhero, saving the day with her strong values, courage and compassion. Diana Prince is a true victor, embodying the traits that inspire us all to be our best selves. She's determined, resilient, and always willing to help others, even in the face of impossible situations. I can still hear that wonderful music that would play when she would transform! I adored her lasso of truth, her bracelets that stopped bullets, those fantastic red boots, her invisible jet, and next to my mom, I thought she had to be the most beautiful woman in the world.
My Childhood Adventures
As a kid, I spent hours playing in the woods, building forts, and riding bikes with my friends. But one of my favorite things to do was play Wonder Woman. I'd spin around, pretending to transform from Diana Prince into the legendary superhero, ready to save the day. Little did I know that decades later, I'd be drawing inspiration from that same sense of determination and resilience to overcome my own health challenges and share my story with others..
The Struggle is Real
Fast-forward to adulthood, and my life took a dramatic turn. Long gone were the days of playing outdoors. Chronic pain, muscle spasms, and fatigue became my constant companions. Things got harder with every decade of my life, but during the pandemic, my health hit rock bottom. Simple tasks like brushing my teeth or opening a door became daunting challenges. Fear of triggering another spasm episode ruled my life. I was afraid to move. I sat or laid for hours trying not to move a muscle. The spasms were beyond debilitating and took weeks, sometimes months to recover from. I had no clue Lyme and mold illness were the cause.
Setting Goals and Finding Hope
The pandemic had me stuck in a rut, unable to see anyone or get out. But then I stumbled upon an online health coach through a social media ad. It was a lifeline. I'd been frozen in fear and pain for so long, wishing someone would rescue me. But a post I saw hit hard. It read, "I don’t know who needs to hear this, but no one's coming to save you." It was a wake-up call. I knew I had to take action, no matter how scared I was.
Working with my online health coach was a game-changer. She taught me the power of setting goals and celebrating wins. At first, my goals were simple: walk to the mailbox, open the refrigerator door, turn on and off the shower, do my own laundry, cook meals for myself, drive again, and exercise without fear of spasms. But with determination and the right support, I achieved every single one. It was liberating!
That experience showed me that even in the darkest moments, there's hope. By taking small steps and working towards our goals, we can overcome even the toughest challenges. And sometimes, all it takes is a spark of determination to set us on the path to healing and transformation.
The Power of LifeWave Patches
I have used many tools to get well. But I give alot of credit for my recovery to LifeWave patches. When I put them on each morning, it may sound silly, but I feel like I'm transforming into Wonder Woman – stronger, braver, and more capable of overcoming obstacles. The patches have given me more energy, less pain, and the confidence to try even more new things. I have new goals to set and accomplish: sharing patch technology with 500 + people this year, hiking through Yosemite, a road trip, a self-defense class, learning to dance, getting engaged, married, and maybe getting a dog, a train trip across Europe (hello Paris, Rome, the Great Alps), seeing the whales! The better I get the more my list grows!
A Message of Hope
If you're struggling with chronic illness or pain, I want you to know that there's hope. Setting goals and working towards them can be a powerful way to take control of your life. Don't be afraid to try new things and adapt to changing circumstances. You are capable of overcoming even the most daunting challenges. I hate to think where I would be if I kept refusing to try LifeWave patches. If you don’t know, I was hesitant to try them at first. I spoke with 4 different people about them before I got on board. But NOW I AM SO GLAD I did!
I still enjoy some Wonder Women Merch as an adult. I lost my red Wonder Woman mug when I moved, but I am thinking this one might make a good replacement option.
Conclusion
My journey to healing has been long and winding, but it's taught me the importance of determination, resilience, and hope. And who knew it would take over 40 years, but I finally checked off being Wonder Woman from my childhood goal list! Okay, okay, so maybe I am no Wonder Woman, but the sense that the possibilities are endless and that I could try to do almost anything to help myself and others again feels pretty heroic! I hope this leaves you inspired to try new things on your wellness journey and find the Wonder Woman in you.
