Welcome 2026: Let’s Talk Setting and Achieving New Goals

Happy New Year Friends! 🎉

As I reflect on the past year, I'm grateful for moments spent healing and with loved ones. Christmas with my dad was a highlight - we explored Aldridge Gardens in Birmingham, enjoyed a delicious dinner in Vestavia Hills, and rang in the new year at Cahaba Ridge's NYE party 🎉. The DJ got us dancing, and the ball drop was well not unforgettable, but lots of fun.

NYE Party!

As we step into 2026, I'm excited to create a vision for the year ahead. For me, this means:

- Expanding my Lifewave business and promoting wellness

- Pursuing a degree in integrative health

- Growing my health and wellness social group

- Prioritizing self-care and stress management

- Creating a vision board and journaling to stay focused

Why am Setting Goals?

  1. - Because it creates clarity and direction

  2. - Boosts motivation and focus

  3. - Helps track progress and celebrate wins

  4. - Encourages growth and self-improvement

Have you heard this story? Jim Carrey, the actor, wrote himself a check for $10 million back in 1995, post-dating it to 1998, with the notation "for services rendered." He envisioned himself earning that amount for his role in a film which became a reality. By setting a clear goal and visualizing success, he achieved it.

Let’s start setting our goals today. Are you ready?

If we don't set goals and take steps to make them happen, we'll just end up anywhere... or nowhere. It's like getting in a car and driving without a destination - no telling where you'll end up! We have to choose a destination, pick goals, and map the route.

Need a Little Help? Sometimes, having support makes all the difference. If you're struggling to set or reach your goals alone with no traction, consider:

- Hiring a health coach or mentor

- Downloading an app to track progress

- Reaching out to a friend or mentor for guidance

If you can find someone who has already achieved what you want to do, and get them to help you do it too, you’ll be well on your way to success.

What's Your Vision for 2026?

- Do you want to lose weight or get stronger?

- Improve mental soundness and reduce anxiety?

- Sleep better and feel more energized?

- Pursue a new hobby or passion?

- Go back to school?

- Become a better communicator, public speaker, or inspirational leader?

- Make more money or get a better job?

- Travel more or explore new places?

- Deepen relationships or build new connections?

Let's create a vision and make it happen! 😊

Tips for Goal-Setting
1. Take time to set a specific goal and this is important—write it down!

2. Create a vision board (pictures and type on a foam board or poster board of what you want to achieve in your future.) The crafter in me LOVES this idea! Have you ever made one?

Vision boards can be whatever you want. It is about creating an image of YOUR future. This kit on Amazon puts lots of ideas at your fingertips!

I also really love this 300 piece inspirational sticker set you can use on your vision board, your calendar, or in your journal.

3. Journal about your goals and make a step by step plan for achieving them. Break things down into no more than 12 week intervals to keep them from being overwhelming.

I think choosing a journal that you like the look and feel of can inspire more writing and doodling time. I love this one. I got it for 2026!

4. Keep track of your progress with regular checkins or an accountability partner.

5. Take action towards your vision.

This week I’ve been learning about the SMART formula for success. I advise you to keep this SMART list in mind as you set and make plans to achieve your goal!

S- Specific: Create a clear image and define exactly what you want to achieve.

M- Measurable: Ask what we need to do daily, weekly, and monthly to achieve this goal.

A- Attainable/Achievable: Has someone else accomplished this goal before? Find someone whose done it; ask them to teach you how to do it.

R-Realistic/Relevant: Be sure this is something you are willing and have the time to put in the work to accomplish and that it contributes to your life plans.

T-Timely: Create a timeline and break large goals into smaller manageable 6-12 week goals. By achieving the smaller goals along the way, they become less intimidating and you will experience more wins. The wins will build self- confidence and you’ll be more excited about continuing to work hard to make your goal a reality in the days to come.

Do you have a SMART goal for 2026 yet? Any goals at all? If not, I challenge you to stop and pick one today. Then share it with someone you trust who will support you, maybe me?

Wishing you a happy, healthy, and filled with goals being accomplished 2026! 🎉
